Opportunities From: Volunteer Santa Rosa County

We have been requested to provide volunteers for the 2026 Navarre Mardi Gras Parade.  Volunteers will need to arrive by 9:00AM.  The parade will begin at 1:00PM and is estimated to completed by 4:00PM.  Volunteers should have completed or viewed the basic traffic direction class.  We will use public safety radios for communication but will have amateur radio as a backup.  Volunteers should have a safety vest and traffic wand (we have loaners if you need one.)

Due to liability concerns, minors (children under 18) are not permitted to volunteer or accompany our CERT volunteers during events. With any event we work, please make sure to bring necessary personal items such as hydration, snacks, sunscreen, chairs or any other items you may need for the incident (traffic vests, etc.) While we strive to have supplies at each event, please be prepared in case something comes up that prevents your access to these supplies at the event. To simplify our signup process & get it in line with our other activities, we are moving our weekly Santa Rosa County Citizen Corps Net Control Station (NCS) signup to "Get Connected."  The net is every week at 1900 CT on the 146.700 K4SRC repeater.

As part of our responsibilities as a CERT team, we provide firefighter rehabilitation services at emergency scenes. We have an upcoming opportunity to deliver this critical support during the quarterly training sessions with the south end fire departments. Participation in this training is highly beneficial—whether you are seeking to acquire rehabilitation skills for the first time or looking to enhance and practice the competencies you have previously learned.

The training is scheduled across three separate days (23rd, 25th, 27th), with each day comprising four distinct shifts. Participants are encouraged to register for multiple shifts if their availability permits.
